aebrer is the generative artist Andrew "Drew" Brereton, who has been working under that name since around 2021. He makes work concerned with entropy, emergence and pareidolia, and builds almost entirely within the constraints of the PICO-8 fantasy console, minting on Tezos. Out of size coding he developed a technique he calls entropy locking, a way of generating emergent variety from code. His first generative series, Three Body Problem, simulated gravitating bodies in orbit and was published on Hic et Nunc. He is also known for pico_punks, which applies PICO-8 constraints to generative avatars and takes its cue from DOS Punks and CryptoPunks; one of them serves as his profile picture across platforms. A pico_punks open edition and a separate edition, BEHOLDER, were released on fx(hash).
