Antonio Werli is a French artist, born in 1980 and settled in Arles. He works with drawing, collage, engraving, letterpress and calligraphy, and is self-taught. Before turning to art full time in 2017, he spent two decades as a literary translator and publisher, and lived for ten years in Buenos Aires. With Monique Baccelli he translated Stefano D'Arrigo's novel Horcynus Orca into French, a project of twelve years published by Le Nouvel Attila in October 2023. Werli entered the NFT space in January 2022 and taught himself to code. His generative works include Ombromanie, released on fx(hash) in February 2023, which drew on the 19th-century French shadow-puppet art popularized by Félicien Trewey, and Chiaroscuro, released two months later. Earlier series include the monotypes of The Empire of Strokes.
