Ed Balloon

Ed Balloon is a musician and Web3 artist from the Boston projects, working across stop-motion animation, film and generative art. As a child he was told to shave his head or hide his locs in order to get a job, and Black hair has remained a recurring subject in his work. He is a founder of Run Ed, his flagship project, which follows a struggling musician puppet named Ed B and released in April 2022. Half of its secondary sales go to the Ed Balloon Generational Wealth Fund, which buys work by Black and other underrepresented artists in Web3. In July 2023 he released Beauty Supply Is Out of Du-Rags: A Personal Synthesis of Protection and Timeless Style on Prohibition. He has collaborated with Timbaland and with TIME's TIMEPieces community.
