Jonathan Mann is a musician living in Hartford, Connecticut. He began writing songs at age twelve and studied at Bennington College and CalArts. Since January 1, 2009, he has written, recorded and released a new original song every day as part of a project called Song a Day, for which he holds the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive days writing a song. An early song defending Apple during the 2010 Antenna-Gate controversy was played to open an Apple press conference, with Steve Jobs dancing to it as he walked onstage. Since 2018 Mann has minted each day's song as an NFT and auctioned it. In July 2024, after selling a song titled This Song is a Security, he and law professor Brian L. Frye sued the SEC, asking a court to declare that selling art as an NFT does not violate securities law.
