Karen Jerzyk is an American fine art photographer from the Greater Boston area. Born in 1981, she graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in English in 2003 and received a camera from her parents at graduation. Self-taught, she spent nearly a decade photographing for the music industry before turning to portraiture in 2009 and then to fine art photography. Jerzyk stages surreal scenes of solitary figures in abandoned buildings and other decaying spaces, cleaning and restoring each location before shooting. Her work deals with isolation, loss, and identity. She is known for The Lonely Astronaut, a series begun after she purchased a vintage high-altitude space suit in 2017 and which has taken her abroad to photograph, and for images of figures in plain white sheet ghost costumes. She has released work through NFT platforms including SuperRare, Foundation, and OBJKT, and appeared as a guest on the digital art talk show The DAM Show in 2026.
