Kjetil Golid

Kjetil Golid is a Norwegian generative artist based in Trondheim, where he works with algorithms and data structures. Born in 1991, he encountered the Processing programming language at design school in 2011, and began showing work on KnownOrigin in 2018. He is best known for Archetype, a 600-piece project released on Art Blocks in February 2021, followed later that year by a second Art Blocks project, Paper Armada. Archetype #397 sold for $330,200 at a Sotheby's auction in 2023. His work has been shown at the Venice Biennale and by the Museum of Contemporary Digital Art, and was featured in The New York Times. In 2023 he carried his partitioning algorithms into three dimensions with Change of Basis, released that December. Golid open-sources much of his code and builds free interactive tools that let others manipulate his systems without programming.
