Laurent Houdard
Laurent Houdard makes generative, code-based artworks in JavaScript and WebGL, concerned with cycles of decay and renewal and the tension between order and entropy. He also built fxsnapshot, an open-source tool that lets generative artists generate and test multiple output variations of their projects. His works include Microsillon, a sound-modulated piece inspired by microscope images of vinyl records under an electron microscope, and Pond, which changes with the seasons. He has worked collaboratively, contributing to Camille Roux's series BRIDGE and making Speed of Dark with Tender and Crystallisation with Shawn Kemp. In 2023 he released mww6.8, a generative work built from seismogram data of the Morocco earthquake, with all proceeds going to #TezQuakeAid. Re: Compose, made in 2025 with custom JavaScript and WebGL2 software, is part of the initial curation on layer.com, and MCRSN followed in September of that year.
