Loren Bednar is a generative artist based in Michigan who works with code. He has no traditional art training. As a teenager he used the LOGO programming language to draw spirals and geometric patterns, and as an adult he built Flash-based interactive websites and worked as a freelance game developer, writing programs that generated grids of small geometric shapes and sharing them on Twitter for indie developers to use freely. He has been producing generative work since 2006 and found the wider generative art community in early 2021. That year he released Phase, an animated Art Blocks Curated series, and he later gained recognition for Traversals. In 2023 he made Divergence, a never-ending audio- and touch-reactive motion work, and Efflorescence, which was shown in the exhibition GEN/GEN at Gazelli Art House.
