Luke Shannon
Luke Shannon, born in 2000, is a generative artist who writes code and builds custom machines to study selfhood in systems. He worked in paint, gouache and watercolor before turning to algorithmic work, and now combines code with materials including ceramics, glass, metal, embroidery and wood. He acquired his first ether in 2017, having discovered NFTs through articles his father sent him, and in early 2022 ran a Sunday popup where he made generative art live and gave the results away. His early Art Blocks collection The Opera was followed by pattern.dst, made in 2023 for the Christie's auction Future Frequencies, developed with Gucci. For his 2025 exhibition Replacement Character at Heft in New York he built a custom plotter-scanner, which he later demonstrated at Paris Photo 2025. He has exhibited at Basel Social Club 2026, is represented by ARTXCODE, and is a finalist for the Legacy Futures Lumen Prize 2026 and an upcoming resident at Laurenz-Stiftung Haus in 2027.
