Mandy Brigwell is a generative artist and programmer who renders mathematics into code-based visual and sound works. She studied mathematics and computer programming at university, and in 1992 programmed a Mandelbrot set renderer on a Casio graphics calculator. In 2021 she read a tutorial by Gorilla Sun on minting on the Tezos platform hic et nunc and minted her first generative works there. In 2022 Camille Roux invited her to contribute to the collaborative project BRIDGE, for which she used Git for the first time and debugged entirely from the command line. She names Bridget Riley and M.C. Escher as direct influences, and her Visions of Escher is a generative rework of Escher's 1946 mezzotint Eye. She is colourblind and thinks of colour programmatically, in terms of hue angles within the HSB model. She releases work primarily on fxhash, Teia, and Versum.
