Max Capacity is a glitch artist based in Santa Cruz, California, working across analog VHS video glitch and pixel art. He began with the collective Analog Medium in 2005 and took the name Max Capacity in 2008. Much of his work draws on old games and hardware, including the NES, Atari, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, and on decaying analog media such as vinyl and cassette tapes. In a 2011 interview he described moving from capturing accidental glitches to deliberately provoking them, and he was cited that year as a signal processing artist in Rosa Menkman's The Glitch Moment(um). His work has been shown at PARALLAX ViξW at the 55th Venice Biennale and at the International Teletext Art Festival at Ars Electronica in Linz, both in 2013. In 2021 he released DOS Punks, a collection of pixel art works on Tezos. In 2025 he curated Protocol Decay, a touring exhibition series with editions in Tokyo, Craiova and New York that closed in Marfa, Texas.
