Neil Burnell
Neil Burnell is a landscape and seascape photographer based in Devon, South West England. He trained in art and photography at college in the 1990s and spent much of his career in graphic design before turning to photography more seriously. His work makes use of long exposures. Burnell is known for Mystical, a project photographed in Wistman's Wood on Dartmoor, a place he first visited as a child, and for Moonshine, an image of Brixham Breakwater that was commended in Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2018. He won the Amateur Photographer of the Year competition that same year, and in 2020 won the black-and-white category of Landscape Photographer of the Year. He has moved from full-frame digital cameras to medium format, working with an analogue Hasselblad 500C/M and a digital Hasselblad X2D II, and sells digital works through SuperRare.
