Paolo Čerić, who works as Patakk, is a Croatian visual artist and computer scientist based in Zagreb. Born in 1990, he was introduced to generative art by his uncle and began making digital animations around 2011, publishing them on his blog Patakk. He holds two master's degrees from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb and studied artificial intelligence at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid through the Erasmus programme. His early GIF animations were included in Moving the Still, a group show at Art Basel Miami co-curated by Michael Stipe of R.E.M. Other works include Single Stroke, which renders human forms as continuous spirals of ink, and the 2022 fx(hash) collection char. He has collaborated with the Zagreb Dance Center on interactive projections for live performances, and works as a machine learning research engineer, more recently extending his practice to diffusion models.
