Patrick Amadon

Patrick Amadon is a glitch artist based in Los Angeles. He moved from traditional painting into digital work in 2012. He is best known for No Rioters, a video piece shown on a large digital billboard on a Hong Kong department store during Art Basel Hong Kong in March 2023, which flashed the names, ages and jail terms of pro-democracy protesters. The billboard was removed after a photograph revealed the hidden content, and Amadon has since been barred from travelling to China and neighboring territories. That same month he withdrew his work from Sotheby's planned "Natively Digital: Glitch-ism" auction in protest at the absence of female and nonbinary artists from its lineup. Later in 2023 he launched the 404 Art Catalog, a monthly open call to buy submitted digital art. In August 2024, LG Art Lab commissioned his piece Passive Observer for display on a Times Square billboard.
