Yura Kimakovych

Yura Kimakovych is a Ukrainian artist who lives and works in Kraków, Poland. Born in Ivano-Frankivsk, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. He makes abstract, geometric paintings that pair the simplified forms and hard edges of minimalism with spontaneous mark-making, often bringing the human figure in alongside the geometry. He has described his compositions as suprematist in spirit. Kimakovych has shown paintings in galleries in Poland and Ukraine since 2017, including 'Lack of Visual Empathy' at Detector Gallery in Ivano-Frankivsk in 2021. He later began showing digital work, presenting Adaptation and Transition Research on Foundation in 2023 and releasing THE HEAD there in May 2024. He took part in NFT New York City in 2023 and again in 2024.
